Mining her own personal collection of photography and found objects, Brenna Youngblood constructs a visual language all her own with abstract collage paintings that mirror the spaces and communities she makes up. A series of lithographic monoprints, “Overwatch,” marks the first collaboration between Cirrus and Youngblood, whose practice defies medium with her uncanny ability to access the present moment to shed new light on the past.
“Overwatch” also bookends Brenna's 2025 exhibition, “R.A..D…I..O.,” at Roberts Projects featuring familiar motifs from the artist. Stenciled yellow roses, collaged coffee mugs, dark clouds streaked in electric yellows and more, strengthens the Youngblood's personal language with each and every repetition of vivid imagery.
Born in Riverside, CA, Youngblood's works are held in collections including the Hammer Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles,The Eileen Harris Norton Collection, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and The Studio Museum in Harlem amongst many others.
