Ed Ruscha

Country Citiscapes

JUNE 1 - AUG 10, 2002

For this exhibition, Cirrus presents six new prints by Los Angeles based artist, Ed Ruscha, published at Graphicstudio at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The studio was founded in 1968 as an experimental, research oriented collaborative workshop. The suite of six prints were made using a rare and difficult technique employing multiple color photogravure plates. The title of the suite is "Country/Citiscapes", which juxtaposes serene natural imagery with street slang .
Ruscha's work has appeared in major shows around the world, including those in Paris, Rotterdam, Barcelona, and Japan, and he is represented in permanent collections that include the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn in Washington, D.C.
