Cirrus is pleased to present "Crazy Thoughts Have Quick Wings: Sylvia Plath & Ted Hughes, A Reimagining." The strange mythology surrounding the relationship between poets Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes has long been a subject of interest and heated debate. The cult of female hysteria as it relates to language is an endless source of discussion, and writer/curator Eve Wood has asked eight artists to reconsider this mythology in visual terms. Working from texts by Plath and Hughes, Wood has given the Plath poem to the male artists and the Hughes poem to the women and has asked these artists not for a direct retelling or translation of the work, but for a visual reassessment, a tranformation of myth into form. The artists are given free reign to create any response that arises in relation to the text.
