We are pleased to announce an exhibition of works by the late Guy de Cointet. This artist--who lived, worked, and exhibited for almost twenty years in Los Angeles--is considered by many to be a provocative influence for contemporary conceptual and performance artists here.Guy de Cointet left a rich body of drawings, books and performance pieces in which the look of language and sound are lyrically manipulated into incommonly exotic expressions. The exhibition highlights each of these areas. Recently, Paul McCarthy included a tribute to Guy de Cointet in an exhibition at Centre National d'Art Contemporain de Grenoble. He says: "[De Cointet] was highly respected and influential in California in the 1970's and deserves more attention now... de Cointet influenced artists as diverse as Mike Kelley, Allen Ruppersberg, Larry Bell and Eric Orr." ![]() Guy de Cointet installation, Cirrus Gallery 1974 Guy de Cointet installation, Cirrus Gallery 1974
