Maggie Lowe Tennesen

Motherboard

NOV 16 - JAN 11, 2002

For this exhibition, Cirrus presents a solo exhibition of paintings by Los Angeles artist Maggie Lowe Tennesen. Her work derives its grid-like imagery from roadmaps, woven strands, circuit boards and other systems of interconnectivity. Tennesen uses a vivid color palette to explore the ideas of connection and interrelation in a multi-leveled world. Her icons are computer bitmaps and schematics of Tibetan imagery. They represent diverse elements of our existence— technical, natural, and metaphysical. The pathways are energy, movement, and thought. The Motherboard connects the layers.

Maggie Lowe Tennesen is a southern California native whose paintings and drawings have appeared in numerous exhibitions including: Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Andrew-Shire Gallery, Post Gallery, Irvine Fine Arts Center, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She received her BFA from CalArts and her MFA from California State University at Long Beach. She teaches at Loyola Marymount University.
