For this exhibition, Russian artist Dimitri Kozyrev presents a new series of drawings created from observations based on the experience of driving. Unlike his recent paintings in which the driver's urgent determination to reach their final destination is represented by a central perspective point with various peripheral references to the landscape passing by, the drawings offer a side view as if the driver is less interested in destination, but rather focused on specific images within the passing environment. Freezing the scene as in a movie still, Dimitri renders subjects such as buildings, trees, street lamps, and animals in amazing detail, using open spaces to suggest the driver's lapse of concentration as they are distracted by the various sites passing by.
